According to Dian Martinez Valencia, communications manager at the tourism group Tui, their bookings have increased by around 20 percent in recent weeks compared to the same period last year. In June, twice as many last-minute trips were booked via their service than last year.
– The majority of these are last-minute bookings and we believe that the bad weather has a big impact on the booking situation at the moment,” says Dian Martinez Valencia to News24.

The Mediterranean among the most affordable
Most of the cheapest last minute holidays in July take you to the Mediterranean, known for its idyllic beaches. From the white sandy beaches of Sardinia and Sicily to the rocky coves of Croatia, there is a beach for every taste.
– In general, July is a good month to travel to the Mediterranean, before the southern Europeans go on holiday, says Dian Martinez Valencia.
The most affordable destination right now is Rhodes. According to the travel guide, you can book a trip to Rhodes for just over SEK 6,000 per person, including flights and hotels for a week.
According to statistics from Tui, the most booked destinations at the moment are Crete, Rhodes, Cyprus, Mallorca and Turkey.
– Right now you can travel to Rhodes, Crete and Bulgaria for under SEK 7,300 per person for a week with flight and hotel. The price applies to last minute departures during July from Arlanda,” says Dian Martinez Valencia.

Finding a cheap trip is a good start, but the price can increase if spending money is expensive in the country you’re traveling to.
According to the Travel Guide, you can get a last-minute trip to Turkey for around SEK 7,700. Although this is more expensive than some other destinations, you can still profit from it due to currency advantages.
– Turkey is a popular destination for last-minute trips because you get a lot of hotels and travel funds for the money. Since last summer, the Swedish krona has strengthened against the Turkish lira by around 30 percent, explains Dian Martinez Valencia.
He continues:
– Don’t stare blindly at the basic price for the package tour. Are any meals included such as breakfast, half board or all inclusive? Also take into account the price situation at the destination and transfer costs.
