We don’t imagine how much time goes quickly when we scroll on our smartphone. Here are the number of years completely lost according to a study.
Smartphones have become essential for our daily lives, and it is increasingly difficult to do without it. If children and teenagers are easily addicted, adults do not necessarily realize, too, that they also lose a time to scroll on social networks. If you too, you tend to watch videos on your smartphone in a queue, in transport, or before bedtime, know that this habit makes you lose several years of your life.
According to a study by Harmony Healthcare IT with 1000 Americans, more than half of respondents are aware of the problem and want to reduce their screen time to have more time for them, improve their mental and physical health, their concentration as well as their quality of sleep. Generation Z seems to be the most addicted to smartphones, and mainly on social networks that young people consider the most addictive.
According to the survey, the Americans spend an average of 5 hours and 16 minutes a day on their phone, an increase of 14 % compared to the 4 hours and 37 minutes that the Americans declared to pass on their phone in 2024. “Generation Z spends 6 hours and 27 minutes on your phone every day, while baby boomers spend a little more than 4 hours (which represents double the recommended limit)”specifies the study. Concretely, this is equivalent on average to more than 12 years in our lives!
Other studies are advancing a loss of 9 or 10 years of lost … as much time as one could devote to your loved ones, your children, your work or your leisure. Experts recommend, to start, ban the smartphones in our bedroom, to promote our sleep.
