Psychoanalysis: congratulations on your work!
Thierry Serra, Geneva (Switzerland)
I am French, a psychiatrist and currently based in Geneva. I congratulate you on your work and your concern for objectivity. What you have done is very courageous and shows how psychoanalytic dogma persists and remains alive. To this day, the damage caused by this belief (I weigh my words) is considerable (see in particular the accusation of mothers in the psychiatric illnesses of their children). (“Should we put an end to psychoanalysis?L’Express of August 8.)
A sectarian approach
Caroline Baflast, Chantilly (Oise)
I would like to congratulate Stéphanie Benz, Victor Garcia and Thomas Malher for their articles on the quackery of psychoanalysis. Psychoanalysis kills and mutilates, directly or indirectly, by preventing people from having the best possible life path due to erroneous diagnoses and care. I have seen medical-psycho-pedagogical centers oppose in good faith – because they are under the influence of psychoanalysis – the convergent advice of my father, a family doctor, a pediatrician and a clinical psychologist concerning my son’s disorders. This is a sectarian and/or mercantile approach. (“On the couch of science”L’Express of August 8.)
A practice that saved my life
Valerie Koch, Soufflenheim (Bas-Rhin)
I read with interest your file on this practice… which saved my life. I am sorry to see it presented in such a simplistic way. Because it is not scientifically measurable, it would not be a worthy or efficient practice? Psychoanalysis is an adventure of rare complexity, of crazy demands, but above all a discovery and an understanding of oneself and others comparable to no other. It is one of the significant events of a life. But you have to have lived it to be able to talk about it. (“Clotilde Leguil: “Statistics cannot be applied to psychoanalysis“”, L’Express of August 8.)
And here we go again with the debate on circumcision!
Laurent Beyer, Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine)
Not only do medical arguments support the defense of circumcision, but this operation is in no way comparable to excision, which is a real mutilation of the female genital organs in any of its forms. Nor is it possible to restrict parental authority to that of simple guardians of their child’s health: education is part of a whole by integrating the community of belonging, whether administrative, political or religious. (“Circumcision of underage boys is unethical”by Franck Ramus, L’Express of August 8.)
These dictators who so fascinated the left
Christophe Deleuze, L’Arbresle (Rhône)
Beyond the results of these “progressive” experiments and the disasters they have generated, a “detail” should tickle the brains of their thurifers. Not one of these Leaderswhether they are maximum Or minimumnever forced himself to lead the life that he considered absolutely essential for his people. Not one who abandoned his material goods, considered detestable in others. Not one who did not send his offspring to study in the prestigious universities of the hated countries. The list is endless, known, documented, and contradicts the very idea of a counter-example that would allow the model to be saved. (“These dictators who have so fascinated the left”L’Express of August 22.)
Olympic Games: thanks to the organizers!
Claude Bertin, Brunoy (Essonne)
Like millions of spectators and television viewers, I was delighted by the 2024 Olympic Games, organized by France. I would find it normal that a significant gesture be made to thank the organizers who, for several years, have worked very hard to make this event a success. The Legion of Honor would be deserved. French know-how in the spotlight
The 3rd edition of La Plage aux entrepreneurs, of which L’Express is a partner, will be held on September 12 at the Arcachon convention center. This event highlights “Made in France”, reindustrialization and national know-how, through the interventions of many leaders of large, medium or small companies, engaged in this approach. After Guillaume Pepy and Louis Gallois, it is Arnaud Montebourg, the former Minister of the Economy reconverted in business creation, who sponsors this edition organized by Gilles Attaf, the president of Origine France garantie. Founder of BFM TV and president of L’Express, Alain Weill will intervene as a key witness to retrace his entrepreneurial journey and deliver his convictions on the keys to success “à la française”.
