When asked why Oudewater chooses to facilitate emergency shelter, the municipality says: “Within the province of Utrecht, the 26 municipalities had previously agreed with each other to take responsibility together. In other words: every municipality has its turn for temporary emergency shelter, until a national solution is found. In this way we show solidarity with each other.”
