Otto Virtanen advanced from the qualifiers to the US Open main series.
Virtanen beat the Frenchman in the third round of the qualifiers Lucas Pouille 7–6, 1–6, 6–3. Virtanen’s right hand was treated after the opening set.
Pouille, who was ranked tenth in the world ranking six years ago, has a Finnish mother. Pouille has suffered a lot of injuries in recent years.
Virtanen advanced to the main series at the US Open last year as well. The main series is also included Emil Ruusuvuoriwho will face the fourth seed in the opening round Alexander Zverev. Virtanen’s opponent will be revealed later.
