The opening round wavered from side to side in windy conditions. Virtanen started well and led with a downturn 4-1. However, Borges broke twice and, in turn, took the lead in the round. However, Virtanen was still in the level and the batch was settled in Tiebreak.
Virtanen had as many as four wilderness balls in the cut -off game, but the Portuguese eventually took it 8-6.
In the second round, the Borges Mutsi right from the start and held his lead until the end.
Virtanen won Borges just over a year ago at the Davis Cup in Turku 6-2, 6-1 and has also won him once at Challenger level. Now came the first loss.
Virtanen lost in the second round of the qualifiers in the tournament, but Lucky Loserina was the main series.
