Östgöta municipalities receive nuclear power subsidies – lukewarm interest in the rest of Sweden

Valdemarsvik municipality receives SEK 800,000, Norrköping SEK 400,000 and Motala SEK 300,000 of the total of ten million kroner that the Environmental Protection Agency, on behalf of the government, distributes in grants to municipal pilot projects for planning new nuclear power.

The pilot projects must include an analysis or mapping of the conditions for the establishment of nuclear power facilities within the municipality and create preparedness in the municipality for new nuclear power.

The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency assesses that all eleven applications meet the requirements and the purpose of the support and has therefore granted funds to all pilot projects.

By September 30, 2025, the municipality must report the results and experiences of the pilot project to the Environmental Protection Agency.

Here you see them all the eleven municipalities that receive the grant for planning new nuclear power.
