Stuck at the bottom of the English Premier League, West Ham hired an Englishman as their head coach by Graham Potterwho replaces the fired Spaniard Julen Lopetegui.
Potter, who started as a university coach, is especially remembered as the sensational coach of Östersund in Sweden. The Englishman lifted the Swedish minor club to the country’s main league and all the way to the European Games. In 2017, Östersund advanced to the Europa League and the playoffs.
After that, Potter has coached Swansea, Brighton and Chelsea in the UK, leaving in the spring of 2023.
– It was important to me that I waited so long for a new job until the new job felt really right for me, he said on West Ham’s website.
The contract with West Ham runs until 2027.
