The purpose of the review is to see if the Google Workspace service, which is used in the schools, contravenes the processing of personal data according to the GDPR.
The Children’s and Education Board is the first in Sweden to be audited based on the current processing of personal data by Google, and the decision may have great significance for other municipalities’ use of Google’s services.
The municipality of Östersund also believes that, regardless of the outcome of the review, there is an urgent need to develop a package of measures to increase the security of Google Workspace.
