Having made it to the semifinals in the boys’ series at the Australian Open tennis tournament Oskari Paldanius the dream of the final remained a dream. Paldanius lost his semi-final against Switzerland To Henry Bernet in chapters 6–7 (6–8), 2–6.

The opening set of the match went at an equal pace with both holding their serve, until in the break game at the end of the set, Bernet managed to make the decisive difference.

In the second set, Bernet quickly took a 4–0 lead, and Paldanius failed to catch up to the Swiss’s lead.

Paldanius was ranked seventh in the tournament, while Bernet was ranked eighth.

The semifinal spot was the first for Paldanius, 17, in a junior Grand Slam tournament.

Paldanius beat the USA in his quarter-final match Jack Kennedy’s set 7–6 (8–6), 7–5.

– This is absolutely amazing. I dreamed of such moments as a child, Paldanius commented in the press release after the quarter-final win.
