It wasn’t close and the excitement died pretty quickly.
The junior crowns cleaned up Austria via a crushing victory in the JVM opener.
The end result? 11–0.
Isak Rosén, a regular in Rochester in the AHL, gave Sweden the lead after 13 minutes played. Shortly afterwards, Linköping player Filip Bystedt made it 2-0.
— We come out pretty hard and dare to play. We are playing better and better and showing that we are doing this together. Now we will continue to work for each other and put a few more pucks in, says Rosén in SVT after the first period.
And of course Isak Rosén was right.
8–0 after two periods
There were a couple more pucks.
Because in the second period there was a pure overrun where the Junior crowns scored a total of six goals.
Next, Germany awaits on Tuesday for the Junior crowns.
After 40 minutes it was 8-0 after Filip Bystedt, Milton Oscarson, Calle Odelius and Simon Robertsson, among others, entered the score sheet.
“It’s very nice to come strong straight away and win,” says Milton Oscarson to TT.
Oscarson: “Some parts can be improved”
TT: What did you say to each other after two periods when it was 8-0?
– We said that we have to keep pushing and not slow down, and we did, so it was good.
TT: How does it feel for you?
— It feels very good, fun to score. Now we will continue like this because we want to go all the way.
Oscarson goes on to talk about the match and to the question of whether they can play better than this, the answer is:
– Yes I think so. Some parts we can definitely improve. It is hard work that matters.
Germany awaits next
In the third and final period, Sweden continued to pour on and was able to win in the end with a whopping 11-0!
Already tomorrow, Tuesday, the Junior crowns play their second group stage match. Then Germany awaits. Puck drop 19.30.
— I am happy that we are winning. Now we’re off to a good start, then we’ll go home and load up for Germany, says national team captain Magnus Hävelid in SVT and then analyzes the match:
— We move the puck very well and work for each other. We send good signals when we get the puck back after losing it. It was fun out there.
