“Everything everywhere all at once” has begun the victory march that many predicted in advance. The supernatural drama-comedy took home the awards for best supporting actress for both female and male actors, through Jamie Lee Curtis and Ke Huy Quan.
Jamie Lee Curtis’ famous actor parents Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh were both nominated, but never won an Oscar.
After a long career in Hollywood, Jamie Lee Curtis received her first Oscar.

The epic family drama “Everything everywhere all at once” has become the big favorite after sweeping almost every award show in Hollywood leading up to the Oscars.
By half past three, the film had received two awards. But the biggest competitor “On the West Front nothing new” won the award for best photo and also took home the statuette for best international film. So it’s 2-2 so far between the two biggest favourites.
Joked about “örfilsgate”
After what happened at the Oscars last year, there was a lot of curiosity about how host Jimmy Kimmel would tackle what was dubbed “earfilsgate”, the scandal in which Will Smith hit on comedian Chris Rock – and minutes later won an Oscar, without anyone intervening.
“Whoever does something violent to me will get an Oscar for best actor and get to speak for 19 minutes,” Kimmel said.
He also commented on the event indirectly when he noted that there are five nominated actors from Ireland this year.
— So the odds for another fight on stage are good, he said.
There is great Swedish interest in the Oscars this year. Ruben Östlund’s film “Triangle of sadness” is nominated in three categories – for best script, direction and film. Östlund is not among the favorites in any class, but has received great response in Hollywood for his contemporary satire on power, class and beauty.

If he were to win an Oscar, it would be a big shock.
The Swedish songwriter Ludwig Göransson is also nominated. His song “Lift me up”, which Rihanna sings in the movie “Black Panther: Wakanda forever” can win the award for best original song. Ludwig Göransson is one of four songwriters who may receive the award.
Rihanna will also sing the song live during the Oscars.
The Oscar Academy has wanted to avoid controversies and political messages this year and is said to have turned down an appearance via link by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to American media.
However, Alexei Navalny’s wife Julia and two daughters came to the Oscars. A film, produced by CNN, about the jailed Russian regime critic was awarded an Oscar for best documentary.
