Orihara and Pirinen placed sixth in the Tokyo GP ice

USA’s Madison Chock and Evan Bates won the Tokyo competition overwhelmingly after skating a score of 215.95.

Finnish couple Yuka Orihara and Juho Pirinen took sixth place in the figure skating GP series ice dance competition in Tokyo, Japan.

After the rhythm dance, Pirinen and Orihara, who competed in their native country, improved their ranking by one notch in Saturday’s free dance and reached a combined score of 175.28. The pair skated their record score of 180.48 in October at the Challenger Series competition in Nice.

Orihara and Pirinen will take part in the Finlandia Trophy, which is also part of the GP series, to be held in Helsinki next week. In Helsinki, Finland’s number one couple is also participating Juulia Turkkila and Matthias Versluis.
