21-year-old Lundberg was in the lead after two thirds of the 15-minute technically and physically demanding course in the Italian city with crowded narrow alleys to read from. After ten minutes, the Luleå girl was fourth – then 15 seconds behind eventual winner Simona Aebersold.
– I was in a crash. I broke my toe two weeks ago and have to run in as hard and stable shoes as possible and then I came down a slope by a dirt road and in a curve only my feet disappeared, Lundberg told about the case that was not shown in SVT’s broadcast.
“I’m just a little angry”
– It’s a shame, but part of the game is to be able to stand on your feet as well, thought Lundberg, who was mostly annoyed that it felt so bad during the race, even when she was lying down well.
How are you, are you okay?
– Yes, this is calm, I’m just a little angry, Lundberg said yesterday.
Today, however, it wasn’t well enough to run. The bloody left lower leg had to be sewn up with a couple of stitches.
