– We want to draw attention to the fact that it is great to cycle even in winter, but when you have to cross the motorways it is very brave now, says Rose-Marie Örtlund at NTF, who arranged the winter cycling test.

About 10 winter cyclists joined in Falun to cycle a distance to see what the winter conditions are like on pavements and cycle paths in the city. An arrangement that NTF hopes will lead to more people choosing to cycle in the winter, but also to create discussion about the problems that exist.

– You have to learn the conditions, practice and learn a little at a time. It’s not always easy, says Magnus Billberg, one of the participants in the winter cycling.
NTF conducts similar tests in ten municipalities around Sweden. The fact that Falun is one of the selected municipalities is due to the fact that there are committed winter cyclists and municipal officials who want to participate.
