Orelsan and “Civilization”: discover the clip of “Better Day”

Orelsan and Civilization discover the clip of Better Day

ORELSAN. After the eventful release of his fourth album, “Civilization”, rapper Orelsan unveils the music video for a new single, “Better Day”.

[Mis à jour le 16 novembre 2021 à 14h17] “When you have the desert to cross, there is nothing to do, except to move forward. “In the wake of the release of his fourth album, Civilization, on November 19, rapper Orelsan unveils a new clip, that of the single Better day. Nostalgic, we find the artist there from his beginnings in video until the elaboration of the cover of his last disc, in the stands of the stadium of Ornano in Caen after the release of this one. Orelsan had posted on social networks a video of him singing the chorus of Best Day in December 1999, 22 years before the release of this track.

Unveiled this Thursday, December 16, almost a month after the album’s release Civilization, the clip directed by David Tomaszewski portrays this song full of hope and optimism and notes with the raw power of Orelsan’s latest single, The smell of gasoline. The video for this song, viewed some 10 million times on YouTube, announced the eventful release of Civilization.

Orelsan proves once again that he masters the art of teasing and promotion. After the release of his documentary Never show that to anyone, then the announcement of a tour and the release of his pre-ordered album, Civilization is (finally) in stores this Friday, November 19. Needless to say, this meeting was expected. Since midnight, this fourth album by the French rapper and his fifteen unreleased tracks has been one of the main topics of discussion on Twitter, where the compliments of conquered fans have been raining down. I have to say that Civilization was already certified gold even before its release, 50,000 copies having been sold in pre-order.

Two days ago, Orelsan (again) created the event with a surprise and committed single, The smell of gasoline, released with his equally powerful music video directed by David Tomaszewski and viewed more than 2.2 million times in 24 hours on YouTube. Like Civilization, The smell of gasoline speaks of the evils of society, of the feelings of the rapper, always armed with a sharp feather, between tubes cut for the waves and more confidential pieces. Among his fifteen songs, three collaborations, with his sidekick Gringe, but also with The Neptunes and Skread.

So is Civilization the rap album of the year? Many seem to be convinced of this on social networks. Orelsan also chose its release date well, since this Friday was the deadline for the selections for the next Victoires de la musique. In 2018, the Normand won three trophies: male artist of the year, best audiovisual creation and best urban music album. There is no doubt that Civilization will follow this path …

“If I told you that normally, it was lost in advance,” said Orelsan in the trailer for Never show that to anyone, his documentary published on Friday, October 15, 2021 on the Amazon Prime Video platform (to watch here). A film which looks back on the irresistible rise of a “provincial guy” who became “number 1 in rap”, gathers personal video archives, filmed since his beginnings, from his apartment or his first job to the biggest concert halls French.

In the documentary in six episodes, co-directed by Clément Cotentin and Christophe Offenstein, we discover Orelsan behind the scenes, but also “his friends”, all told by his little brother, Clément, who filmed and kept these archives for twenty year. Among the relatives that we discover in the film, Skread, Ablaye, Gringe and some members of his family, but also artists like Soprano, Akhenaton, Oxmo Puccino, Stromaé or Gims.

“It’s a crazy thing”: also in the news of Orelsan, a new tour! After announcing on social networks that he was back on the roads, the French rapper has just given the details: the Orelsan Tour will begin on January 15, 2022 in Caen, to end in Vienna on July 29, 2022. As announced a few months ago, the artist will be passing through Paris, with four dates at the AccorHotels Arena on March 16, 17 and 18 2022.

The ticket office for all these concert dates opened in presales on Wednesday, October 6, 2021. To get a precious sesame and come and applaud the interpreter of The party is over, go to the official website of the Orelsan tour, this way. On the price side, count between 40 euros for a place in the pit and 50 euros in category 1. After the opening of pre-sales on the Orelsan site, it is possible to acquire places on the site of Fnac, or on Seetickets by following the links indicated.

After announcing four dates at the AccorHotels Arena, Orelsan unveiled all the cities in which he will perform in concert. Find the full list:
