Ordinary people must solve the climate issue – in a new citizens’ council

In March 2024, Sweden’s first national citizens’ council on the climate will start. 60 participants, scientifically selected to represent Sweden’s population, will during the spring take part in research, discuss solutions and come up with proposals for how Sweden could fulfill its commitments under the Paris Agreement.

The Citizens’ Council is part of the research program FAIRTRANS. The project takes place in collaboration between Stockholm University, University of Gävle, Uppsala University, Lund University and IVL Swedish Environmental Institute. Fairtrans is financed by Mistra and Formas, with part-financing by the citizens’ council from the European Climate Foundation.
