Anyone who watches the horror B-movie Cabal – The Brood of the Night (Nightbreed) these days is probably surprised that this one Whole 25 years in the poison cupboard of the federal inspection agency for media harmful to young people had to go sour. Now, however, the classic has disappeared from the index and has to deal with one Approval for home cinema from the age of 16 done.

Fans have been able to watch the iconic horror flick since August 25th four new and limited Mediabooks purchase from Amazon. The special thing about it: Each of the collector’s editions has its own cover.

The four new cover versions of the media book for Nightbreed are available from Amazon for Price of 41.99 euros. You can now order them directly from the online retailer, but you should hurry. Because the special editions are each limited to a few hundred copieswhile the first four cover variants are already sold out.

In addition to the uncut theatrical version, all media books also contain Clive Barkers Director’s Cut of Nightbreed on DVD and Blu-ray. The boxes also offer the following extras:

    Aaron Boone actually lives a normal life until his psychotherapist Philip Decker convinces him that he is a serial killer, but in fact Decker committed the crime himself. Fearing the police, Boone flees to the underground city of Midian, populated by supernatural creatures.

    Once there, one of these creatures attacks and bites him, but he manages to escape. But he runs straight into some police officers who open fire on him. Thanks to the bite, Boone survives the gunshot wound and decides to join the Nightbreed, sparking a battle between overworlders and the creatures below

    Nightbreed is still considered by horror fans to this day Classics of the B-movie genre and received an award for the Best DVD/BD Special Edition (Director’s Cut). Because – as it soon turns out – in this film the monsters embody “the good guys” and not the normal people for once, Entertainment Weekly editor Ty Burr dubbed the film “perverse”.

    But Nightbreed’s unusual reversal of good and evil wasn’t the only distinctive feature that drew the film among fans cult status helped. Also the allegory on the Human rejection of what is different and strangers as well as the allusions to queer issues were regarded as groundbreaking unique selling points.
