In a live interview with the Kossath radio channel, on the anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Orbán claims that he has urged Fidesz party parliamentarians to give Sweden and Finland the green light for NATO membership.
– This is in line with what has been signaled recently from Hungary. A vote in the Hungarian parliament is approaching, which is required for Sweden’s and Finland’s applications to be ratified, says TV4 Nyhetern’s foreign affairs commentator Lisa Grenfors.
Hungary and Turkey are the two countries that need to ratify Sweden’s and Finland’s applications to the defense alliance.
– This means that the last EU country has said yes to membership and within NATO there is only one country left, so the pressure is increasing on Turkey, continues Grenfors.
