Or now Iivo Niskanen? The Olympic hero tries to crown his full hit with Holmenkollen’s victory

Or now Iivo Niskanen The Olympic hero tries to crown

Iivo Niskanen has won Olympic gold and the World Championship, but he still lacks one big victory: Holmenkollen’s 50-kilometer victory.

The Holmenkollen 50 km traditional cross-country race can be watched on TV2 and Areena from 12.55.

The legendary 50 kilometers of Holmenkollen and its victory is the dream of almost every male skier on normal trips. Iivo Niskanen has already won three Olympic golds and one world championship, but he is missing the victory of the kingship from Kollen.

Now the chances of winning this race, which starts at 1 pm Finnish time, are better than ever before.

– Iivo has not yet achieved a victory for Holmenkollen, so he has tough goals for the competition. He’s definitely going to get it now, head coach Teemu Pasanen assesses the prospects for competition for BTI.

At that time, the Finnish hero of the Lahti World Championships went to the race with bold tactics and pulled the top six men after about nine kilometers and did not change skis with the others at the same time. Norwegian Martin Johnsrud Sundby however, it was not surprising and Niskanen had to bend for 9.9 seconds.

Instead, two years ago, Niskanen’s conquest of Holmenkollen ended in darkening in the last 15 kilometers and the final disposal was 16th. Three years ago, his race crashed into ski problems and the result was in line with it: Niskanen was only 32nd in the race and shouted at Sports, a journalist on duty along the track. To Laura Arffmanthat the skis don’t hold any.

Niskanen reached the color straight for medals at the Beijing Olympics. He took the championship in the 15km traditional, grabbed the bronze in the combined race and skied Joni Mäki with a double message second.

In the World Cup of the season, Niskanen has done a perfect job in his starting races. He won the traditional 15 km races in Ruka, Lenzerheide, Switzerland and Salpausselä.

Hakola is ready to suffer

Five Finns will start 50 kilometers from Holmenkollen. In addition to Niskanen, they race in the competition Perttu Hyvärinen, Ristomatti Hakola, Lauri Lepistö, Remi Lindholm and Ville Ahonen.

– Hopefully, the team’s total bet would be good, as in the women’s 30-kilometer competition, Pasanen returned to the women’s Saturday competition, where Krista Pärmäkoski was another Kerttu Niskanen fourth, Johanna Matintalo 12: s and Anne Kyllönen 13: s.

Good skied twice in the top ten at the Beijing Olympics. Ristomatti Hakola, who was rehabilitating after his illness and injuries, was tenth in Salpausselä’s 15 kilometers and also skied well in the Drammen sprint.

– Perttu has been in good shape at the Olympics and since then, Pasanen confirmed.

– Ristomatti also showed in Lahti that he is in good condition. On the other hand, he hasn’t skied 50 miles in a long time, so it may be a bit of a mystery, even though 15 miles already went pretty well.

– It’s a raw trip. I haven’t skied to the finish line at Holmenkollen, Hakola told Urheilu.

He has previously started once in the Holmenkollen 50km race. That happened in 2015 and ended in suspension.

– I’m going to experience it again. It’s a ski sanctuary and fifties there, so yes you have to experience it. Athletically seek maximum pain and enjoy all the money.
