The Polish political opposition coalition emerged victorious from the country’s parliamentary elections on Sunday. It is determined after all votes are counted on Tuesday, according to the country’s electoral system.
The opposition block Citizens’ Coalition, under the leadership of Donald Tusk, receives 54 percent of the voters’ votes. The conservative Law and Justice party (PiS), which has ruled the country for the past eight years, receives just over 35 percent of the vote, making it the single party with the most votes.
Voter turnout was also a record high. 75 percent of Polish voters cast ballots, compared to the previous record of 63 percent in the 1989 election.
