The groups for next summer’s under-21 European football championships have been drawn. Pikkuhuhkajat plays in group D and will face Denmark, Holland and Ukraine.
The European Championship work of the little pretenders starts on June 12 against the Netherlands. Finland will face Ukraine on June 15 and Denmark on June 18. All three matches will be played in Kosice.
16 countries play in the EC tournament. The two best of the initial groups advance to the playoffs of the tournament – i.e. to the top eight.
Mika Lehkosuo coached by Pikkuhuuhkajat cleared their way to the European Championships when Finland beat Norway in the further qualifiers with a total of 6-3 goals.
– Our goal is to be the first Finnish team to advance from our group. We are moving towards that goal, Lehkosuo stated right after the draw on the website of the Finnish Football Association.
