1655265764 OPP moves police record checks online

Residents in communities across Ontario policed by the OPP now are able to access police record checks without having to leave their homes.

Ontario’s largest police service moved its record check system completely online as of June 13.

The OPP processes around 14,000 police record checks annually, the force said.

“We are so pleased to launch the new online system, which will significantly streamline the application process for both our members and the public. Moving police record checks online allows the OPP to efficiently and effectively meet the needs of the communities we serve,” deputy commissioner Chris Harkins said in a statement.

Under the new OPP system, members of the public can securely request the following police records with just a few clicks: Criminal records checks, criminal record and judicial matters checks, vulnerable sector checks and non-parent custody checks.

Payments for records, which remain unchanged, can be made online, at opp.ca/recordschecks, and will be delivered through a secure portal.
