Perth County Ontario Provincial Police stopped the first vehicle just after 2 am on Perth Line 55 in Perth East. The driver was displaying signs of impairment, police alleged, and a 33-year-old from Welland was arrested at the scene and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and failure or refusal to comply with demand.

A second vehicle was stopped just after 2:30 am on Wellington Street in Mitchell, and cocaine was reportedly found. The driver, a 22-year-old from Stratford, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and possession of a schedule I substance.

Arrest made after thefts

Perth County Ontario Provincial Police arrested and charged one person following two separate thefts last month in North Perth.

Police started investigating May 27 after items were stolen during a break and enter to a community organization on Main Street West in Listowel, police said. In a separate June 4 incident, police said a bicycle was stolen from a business in Listowel.

A 21-year-old from North Perth was charged with break and enter (committing an unspeakable offense), as well as theft with a value less than $5,000.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario court of justice in Stratford on July 22 to respond to the charges.

Police investigating after $130K loader stolen

Provincial police are looking for witnesses or video surveillance after a yellow New Holland compact track loader worth nearly $130,000 was stolen from a business property on Perth Line 34 (Highway 8) in West Perth. Police believe the loader was last headed north on Road 150.
