OPP briefs: Cash boxes stolen from Watford Legion

Lambton OPP are asking the public’s help finding a suspect after cash boxes were stolen from the Royal Canadian Legion branch in Watford.

Officers sent to legion branch 172 at 5275 Nauvoo Rd. in Watford about 9:30 am April 13 learned an early morning intruder kicked in a window and made off with an undisclosed sum, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male, 20 to 30, of medium build, last seen wearing black and white running shoes, dark pants and a dark hoodies with Burnard Builders Inc. written down each arm, police said.

Anyone with information, including video footage, should call OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Police are also investigating another theft, from a construction site off South Plympton Road in Plympton-Wyoming, police said, after responding just before 8 am Saturday.

About $5,000 worth of tools were taken from a construction trailer, police said, noting a window was also smashed on a house under construction.

Assault charge laid in intimate partner violence investigation

A 40-year-old Lambton County resident faces charges after an intimate partner violence investigation, provincial police say.

Officers were called to a disturbance at a St. Clair Township address at 7:24 p.m. Sunday, Lambton OPP said.

A person, whose name was not released, was charged with assault causing bodily harm – spousal, and mischief under $5,000, police said.

“Victims of domestic violence are not alone,” an OPP release said, encouraging people needing help to contact agencies like Victim Services of Sarnia-Lambton, at 519-344-8861.
