Operation postponed for almost 100 days – patient died: “Long waiting times”

The patient had an aneurysm in the brain and died a little over a week before the planned operation. The hospital’s own investigation showed that the operation had insufficient procedures for reprioritizing surgery and insufficient operating capacity.

— Unfortunately, it is a fact that we have long waiting times and there are operations with an even higher priority. There are few neurosurgical procedures that can wait. If you have a lack of capacity and queuing like we have now, there aren’t that many low-priority cases, so it becomes very difficult to prioritise, says Magnus Brinkchief physician, to the newspaper.

The patient died of a brain hemorrhage, which, according to the hospital, could have been prevented if the patient had been operated on in time.
