It was shortly after lunchtime that the alarm went off at the Security Police headquarters. The police and emergency services were called and even emergency vehicles and an ambulance are on the scene.
People on site stated that they smelled some kind of smell in the premises and the emergency services therefore decided to evacuate.
According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, there are about 500 people who were forced to evacuate.
The police suspect that it may be some kind of gas leak. A witness tells TV4 Nyheterna that the police are wearing protective suits.
The region in staff mode
Region Stockholm announced at 2 p.m. that they are going on staff mode due to the incident.
“Regional special healthcare management has been activated and is in staff mode following an alarm about a gas leak in connection with the Security Police’s headquarters in Solna. Several healthcare resources have been sent to the scene,” they write in a press release.
Several people with symptoms have been taken care of and according to P4 Stockholm, five have been taken to hospital. The extent of the damage is unclear.
Säpo’s spokesperson Adam Isaksson Samara is tight-lipped about the effort.
– The emergency services have been called and are taking measures, but I cannot comment further on what triggered the alarm or how it affects our employees. I also cannot comment on what measures are being taken at the site now, he says to TV4 Nyheterna.
