Top Gun: Maverick is finally here and already ranked as one of the most incredible stunt films ever. Not least because Tom Cruise and the entire cast was actually put into fighter jets and endured immense g-forces. Apparently they all had to vomit. Except for one person.
Except Tom Cruise: Top Gun 2 cast vomits due to action stunts
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed this in an interview with Polygon.
[Im ersten Film] we couldn’t use scenes like that because all the actors were throwing up. only tom [Cruise] […] managed to some extent. [Bei Top Gun 2] Tom developed a program to increase their tolerance to centrifugal forces [sogenannte g-Kräfte] build up. Only [Phoenix-Darstellerin] Monica Barbaro stayed firm. She was the only one who didn’t throw up.
Bruckheimer does not mention Tom Cruise at this point. As the developer of the tolerance program, however, its stability should be self-evident. Barbaro will prove her staying power deserve his respect.
And it was worth it in other ways too. Top Gun: Maverick is extremely well received by critics. Last but not least, the thrillingly authentic stunts are praised. You can put up with a bit of nausea for that.
