The foreign tourists have not found their way back after the pandemic, but the tourism industry in Västerbotten is still doing quite well according to Annika Sandström.
– Only 25 percent of the guests in the county come from abroad, so we are not dependent on foreign guests in that way, but it is clear that it is an important addition for many companies, she says.
The war in Ukraine affects
She also believes that it is not only Swedes who choose to holiday in their local area.
– No one is unaffected by what is happening in the world with the war in Ukraine, the economy and climate threats, you might think twice before getting on a plane.
Annika Sandström, however, believes that it will change.
– I think that in the long term, the foreign tourists will come back, even if it will be on a smaller scale.
