According to SMHI, it rained 161.6 mm in Gävle on August 17-18. Additionally, 101.9 of that precipitation fell in two hours. Many are still struggling with the consequences of the rainy weather that paralyzed large parts of Gävle. One of the buildings housing students at the University was in danger of collapsing due to the large vbatten masses.
– The only thing we prioritized was getting students out, says Frida Funemo, who is a property manager at K2A, which runs the student accommodation.
