The hotel has been evacuated. A person has been taken to hospital by ambulance.
The alarm about the fire came at 18.20 on Friday and a larger effort began.
– The only thing I know at the moment is that there is heavy smoke in the building, you have been able to extinguish externally but the fire may have spread. They work full time, say Angelika BergmanAlarm and command operator at the rescue service, to TT.
The police are on site to assist the rescue service.
