One Piece’s new arc starts in January 2024, but fans would have liked a bit of a break

One Piece’s Wa-no-Kuni arc took place in the anime. After more than four years, the Straw Hat Gang in the anime leaves the samurai island and devotes themselves to new adventures. For some fans, however, it’s a little too fast.

What kind of arc is it? After the Wa no Kuni arc, which includes the longest battle in anime history, the Egghead Island arc begins in One Piece. As usual, this time there are some filler episodes between the last and the next story arc. That’s why the new arc doesn’t start until January 7, 2024.

In Germany, the new episodes will probably be available again a few hours after they are broadcast on Crunchyroll. In the Wa-no-Kuni arc, the current episode was also available a short time later in Japanese language output with German subtitles on the streaming service. We have to wait a few more months for the German dubbing.

Egghead Island promises a colorful, futuristic city

What is shown in the trailer? On the one hand, the trailer shows what the Straw Hat Gang’s new outfits look like. The pirates are equipped with special suits that have practical functions. The costumes of Luffy, Zorro and Co. are colorful and, especially for the women, kept tighter than necessary.

There is also a crazy city to see in the trailer. The buildings appear futuristic; some houses, for example, have domes with rockets at the top. The architecture of some houses is completely crazy.

In the sky there is also a huge cloud with an egg from which a slide leads towards the city. In another still image, an ancient robot can be seen lying crumbled in a landscape of palm trees.

There are also many still images that indicate that the arc is a little more technological than previous arcs. Finally, we see a person who fans of the manga should already know.

How are fans reacting to the announcement? Many fans are looking forward to the arc starting soon. There is a thread in the reddit forum in which many users describe the arc as the “best arc” in the series.

But there are also critical voices: Some believe that the production team should have taken time to prepare the arc. The manga is currently still in the middle of the events of the arc. That’s why fans suspect that the pace of the upcoming season might be even slower than usual.
