One Piece: The members of the Straw Hat Gang in the ranking

Luffy has put together an impressive team over the course of One Piece. Not all of his crew members have eaten a devil fruit, but many of them don’t need to. MeinMMO ranks the Straw Hats according to their fighting strength and explains why some of Luffy’s crew members are more battle-hardened than others.

Spoiler alert: When assessing the Straw Hat Gang’s powers, we base our assessment on the current status of the manga. If you haven’t yet read the events during and after Wa no Kuni, you should come back at a later date.

Which members were considered? Luffy’s Straw Hat Gang includes all members who are regularly on the Flying Lamb or Thousand Sunny. This means that we do not take alliance partners or specific princesses into account in the ranking.

We also included all members who exist up to chapter 1.096. This means there are more people than, for example, in the Netflix series.

How was the ranking created? The places were allocated according to

For each character, we describe what skills they have in battle and which stronger opponents they have already defeated on their own.

10th place: Nami

Nami has the lowest bounty – apart from Chopper, who is believed to be the Straw Hat Gang’s pet. Although she occupies one of the most important positions on the ship’s crew as a navigator, she is not a capable fighter.

With her manipulative nature, she has occasionally managed to turn the fights in her favor. For example, she was able to convince King Baum to fight on her side.

In addition to the climate baton that Usopp made, she can also defend herself with the help of Cloud Zeus. For example, she can shock multiple opponents and defend herself in both close and ranged combat.

9th place: Usopp

Usopp is known as the shooter of the Straw Hat Gang. He is a clumsy liar who was able to save himself in many fights primarily through cheap tricks. Ghost Princess Perona and Sugar were only defeated because Usopp scared them.

But he is a creative mind when it comes to his ammunition when shooting. His repertoire includes various plant and flame attacks, which he can use to defend himself against different opponents.

We also ranked Usopp higher than Nami because he has the Observation Haki. On Dressrosa, he was able to sense the aura of others, expanding his field of vision, which is useful for him as a sniper. He is also one of the fastest Straw Hats when it comes to running away.

8th place: Chopper

Tony Chopper is mistaken by the Navy for the Straw Hat Gang’s pet. He is one of the members of the Straw Hat Gang who ate a devil fruit. However, his devil fruit only allows him to talk to humans and assume a humanoid moose form.

As a ship’s doctor, he has an important role within the crew. He uses his medical knowledge primarily for the Rumble Balls, which allow him to change his appearance and thus gain enormous fighting abilities.

Tony Chopper will probably be the next member of the Netflix series:

After the time jump, he is even able to achieve many of the forms without using Rumble Balls. His greatest strength is his monster form, which becomes a gigantic moose. Thanks to Caesar Clown, Chopper was able to upgrade the Rumble Ball to the point where he can control the shape for up to 30 minutes.
