One Piece Darling Reassures Anime Fans: “He’s the Perfect Luffy”
As Deadline reports, Netflix announced the return of key original voice actors for the Japanese version of the live-action series at Anime Expo 2023. But not only that: In a video, Luffy actor Iñaki Godoy met Mayumi Tanaka, who has been voicing his role in the anime original since 1999.

Among other things, Tanaka gave Godoy the trademark of the joint role, a straw hat with a red band. She was enthusiastic about her live-action counterpart, as Deadline quotes: “Inaki is so funny and happy he really is the perfect Luffy. I’m very happy to voice the role in the Japanese version.” The original voice actors for the roles of Zoro, Nami, Sanji and Usopp will also return.
The alliance between the two generations of the One Piece cast delighted many fans of the template. “I’m so happy“, it says on Twitter, “the video was legendary and [Tanaka] is so sweet“. Another community member also refers to the video as “ingenious trick“.

When is the One Piece live-action series coming to Netflix?
Shortly before the start of the new series, Netflix is making great efforts to convince fans of the template of the adaptation. Many of the German One Piece voices are also returning. The One Piece real-life series is coming August 31, 2023 to Netflix.
