One person is facing assault charges after police responded to a collision in Norfolk County on Wednesday afternoon.

A passenger on a motorcycle suffered serious injuries following a collision between the motorcycle and a pickup truck on Blueline Road at about 4:39 pm

The assault charges stem from an incident prior to the collision, said Norfolk OPP.

“It was determined that prior to the collision, the driver of the motorcycle had physically assaulted the driver of the pick-up truck,” OPP Const. Andrew Gamble said in a media release. “The pick-up truck then collided with the motorcycle, resulting in the passenger being ejected from the motorcycle.”

The passenger was airlifted to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The motorcycle driver, a 37-year-old Norfolk man, has been charged with assault and failure or refusal to comply with a demand. He is scheduled to appear in court in Simcoe on Sept. 12.
