The new Wolf Man is played by Christopher Abbott, who is very familiar with the horror genre thanks to films such as Piercing, Possessor and It Comes at Night. The story of Wolf Man revolves around a man named Blake (Abbott), who lives in San Francisco and remote house of his parents in Oregon. He decides to move there with his wife Charlotte (Garner). However, it is not long before strange things start happening in the rural idyll.

The new Wolf Man film has a long history behind it. The project was originally announced in 2014 as Part of the Dark Universe announced, which was officially launched three years later by The Mummy… and had no future in Hollywood. Instead, Universal focused again on standalone films like The Invisible Man.
After the project was overhauled, Ryan Gosling showed great interest in the lead role and also had the perfect director on board: Derek Cianfrance, with whom Gosling had made Blue Valentine and The Place Beyond the Pines, was to direct Wolf Man. both left the film.
