Over 15 years ago, My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way published the comic book series The Umbrella Academy about a group of superheroes who live and are trained together in a school. At the time, the musician could hardly have imagined what it would become. The Netflix adaptation blossomed into one of the streamer’s most successful series, impressing with absurd sci-fi action for five years. The fourth and final season is available on Netflix starting today.
On Netflix: The Umbrella Academy finale brings the approaching end of the world with season 4
At the end of the third season, the Ball lightning to destroy the entire universe. Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore) tried to convince the members of the Umbrella Academy to join him in the Hotel Oblivion to reset the current timeline of the universe and create a completely new timeline.
Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman) finally carries out his plan and catapults her siblings into an alternate timeline in which Luther (Tom Hopper) also returns from the dead. But the siblings face a problem: Here they have lost all of their superpowers.

Showrunner Steve Blackman has already explained that he wants to bring the story to a fitting conclusion in season 4. So we can look forward to seeing what the last six episodes of The Umbrella Academy have in store for us after this disaster.
In the final season, we can expect a final reunion with the regular cast including Elliot Page as Victor, Robert Sheehan as Klaus, Tom Hopper as Luther, Emmy Raver-Lampman as Allison, David Castaneda as Diego, Aidan Gallagher as Number 5 and Justin H. Min as Ben. Newcomers to the cast include The Last of Us star Nick Offerman and David Cross (Arrested Development).
Future of The Umbrella Academy uncertain after allegations against Steve Blackman
The Umbrella Academy universe was originally supposed to be continued in a spin-off. The series The Sparrow Academy was cancelled just a few weeks ago. The reason for this are allegations against showrunner Steve Blackman, who was also supposed to be the creative force behind the new series.
Former crew members and writers of The Umbrella Academy accused Blackman of toxic behavior on the set of the Netflix hit. Several projects planned by Blackman were subsequently put on holdincluding the hotly anticipated sci-fi series Horizon Zero Dawn. It is not yet clear whether the Umbrella Academy universe will be continued elsewhere.
