One of the most popular films by Tarantino is the remake of a Japanese revenge film

Quentin Tarantino is very familiar with films. In the case of Kill Bill, he was so inspired by a Japanese strip that the similarities are more than noticeable.

What film is it about? We are talking about the Japanese film Lady Snowblood. He shone in 1973 and told the story of a vengeful woman. Her name is Yuki and she wants to avenge the death of her family. Her mother, who came to prison after a murder, testified there so that she can later complete the revenge campaign.

Lady Snowblood is a prime example of the revenge film and is not stingy with bloody scenes. Yuki moves elegantly through the fights and mostly does her adversary with short Katanas, Japanese swords.

The film is rather unknown in this country, only genre fans may have seen it or heard of it. If you look at Lady Snowblood, striking similarities to another revenge film are noticeable: Kill Bill by Quentin Tarantino.

Tarantino shows that he loves films

How was Tarantino inspired? The director, who loves films more than series, is known to incorporate quotes and allusions to other works in his work. He knows very much in film history and shows this in his 9 films that have been released so far.

In the case of Kill Bill, the similarities to Lady Snowblood run through the whole film. It starts with the basic action. A woman loses her family or part of it – in Kill Bill it is the bride’s baby, right at the beginning.

The woman then wants to practice revenge on the murderers. In both films, it is a fatal team of four killers that are gradually visited and blessing the time. Fighting is also made in Kill Bill with Katanas.

Not only did Tarantino take over the action for the story of its history, also as it is told, is based on the great role model. There are different chapters and the story is not told strictly linearly – a stylistic device that Tarantino also likes to use in other films.

Incidentally, the director took over some scenes and attitudes almost 1: 1. This is particularly striking in one scene, namely when the killers bow over their victim. You can find a comparison of similar recordings on YouTube.

Are there any other parallels? Tarantino probably also liked the leading actress of Lady Snowblood. Protagonist Yuki was played by the actress and singer Meiko Kaji. The song “The Flower of Carnage” she sang not only appears in Lady Snowblood. It also accompanies a dramatic scene in Kill Bill that ends bloody.

Despite the similarities, it is worth watching both films. One is a real Japanese revenge film, the other the western interpretation of a large film fan. Did you already know about the inspiration for Kill Bill? Write it and like to write in the comments. By the way, a well -known actress was not allowed to play in the film: Quentin Tarantino worshiped an actress, did not let her play in Kill Bill because she was too good
