One of the most important directors of our time returns

Filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow has arrived in the top league since her double Oscar win for the military drama The Hurt Locker. This was followed by Zero Dark Thirty about the hunt for Osama Bin Laden, as well as her last film Detroit from 2017. Since then, the director has been quiet.

Bigelow most recently worked on an adaptation of the David Koepp novel Aurora. A project she has since left, according to IndieWire. Instead, it should be for them with one written by Noah Oppenheim (Maze Runner). Project at Netflix continue that seems tailor-made for her.

Netflix thriller in the White House: The perfect project for The Big Bigelow?

As Puck first reported on the still untitled project, the film is said to be a Real-time thriller with the White House as the setting act. How does the US power center in Washington, DC react to an imminent missile attack on the United States? The story seems to be fictional, but with Bigelow as the film’s commander there will certainly be a lot of real historical references.

After some budget disputes with new Netflix film boss Dan Lin, the project is on track and will probably be officially announced by the streaming service during the Upfronts presentation.

Where can you see Bigelow’s other military thrillers?

The Hurt Locker is currently available to stream on Sky Go and WOW. Zero Dark Thirty, on the other hand, is not available as a subscription and must be accessed as a rental or purchase title from Amazon, Sky, Apple TV or Google Play.
