There are not many films that can entertain viewers for more than two hours without a break. But Hot Fuzz is such a movie. The action comedy starring the terrific duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (both Shaun of the Dead). brims with wit, explosions and scathing social observations.
On TV: Action-Comedy Hot Fuzz is the second in a trilogy
Hot Fuzz follows the fall and rise of elite cop Nicholas Angel (Pegg), who is transferred from London to the tranquil showcase town of Sandford because he’s just too good. There he deals with trivial offenses, tries to get rid of his pushy colleague Danny (Frost) and incites the cozy population against itself. But eventually he uncovers a big conspiracy.
The whole thing is so fast-paced and hilariously funny that you’ll laugh straight into amazement, while the film goes through all genres from comedy and drama, from crime thriller to action banger. And masterfully and always with a wink.
This is no coincidence. Like Shaun of the Dead and The World’s End, Hot Fuzz has exceptional director Edgar Wright, who often shows a great talent for extremely entertaining genre mixtures. All three films form the Cornetto trilogy in his work (Three Flavors Cornetto). They are linked by different flavors of ice cream and the same protagonists. And the fact that you can never go wrong with them.
