Stephen King wrote many well-known horror stories. One of his most famous works revolves around something abysmal evil that takes the form of the Horror Clowns Pennywise up to mischief in the small town of Derry. It conquered the big screen for the first time in 2017 and became a mega success.

The mix was able to fetch over 700 million US dollars Horror and coming-of-age film import. What made It particularly lucrative for the studio: The film only cost $40 million to produce. The sequel was quickly decided. Two years later, It Chapter 2 hit theaters.

Even if the box office result, 473 million US dollars, does not match its predecessor, the Es brand is very valuable and will be further expanded.

Instead of It Chapter 3 comes a series that tells us the origin story of Pennywise

Specifically, this happens in the form of a series that gives us the Prehistory of Derry told. Announced in early 2022, the project will be exclusive to the HBO Max streaming service. Welcome to Derry’s story is set in the 1960s and explores the origins of Pennywise.

Stephen King is not directly involved in the project. But an important creative force of the films is returning: Director Andy Muschietti is shooting the first two episodes. Filming is scheduled to start in Toronto at the end of April. The series was written by Jason Fuchs, who was also involved in the creation of It Chapter 2.
