Robert Pattinson plays 17 Mickeys in Mickey 17

The Batman star Robert Pattinson plays Mickey, or rather 17 Mickeys, because Mickey is a so-called disposable employee (Expendable). Mickey is sent on a human expedition to colonize the ice world of Niflheim. After an iteration dies, a new body is clonedwith most of the memories remaining intact.

Accordingly, in the trailer we see how one Mickey after another passes away – until a mistake in the process causes chaos. Because then, instead of one, there are suddenly two Mickeys.

Oscar winner Bong Joon-ho knows sci-fi very well

Parasite played with the class conflicts in contemporary South Korea, but Bong Joon-ho also has some experience with science fiction. His first English-language film was the icy vision of the future Snowpiercer from 2013, in which Captain America star Chris Evans took on the lead role. In 2017, the futuristic pig adventure Okja followed, with Jake Gyllenhaal as an eccentric zoologist.

Mickey 17 is an adaptation of the novel Mickey 7 – The Last Clone by Edward Ashton, which was published in 2022 and already has a sequel, Antimatter Blues.
