At the launch of the loot shooter “The First Descedant”, journalist and Destiny expert Paul Tassi made disparaging comments about the shooter. But opinions have changed. This seems to be a trend: either people quit early or they stick with it and enjoy the game.
This was his opinion: Paul Tassi writes for Forbes and has been covering loot shooters like Destiny for many years:
Despite much criticism, he played 30 hours in the first week
This is how his opinion changed: Already on July 8th, Tassi published a second video with the content: Yes, The First Descedant is slowly growing on him, but it still has some problems.
In the video he explains that even though he had some difficulties with the game, he still put in 30 hours in a week and now has a character at max level.
This second video came after about a week in the game. Tassi explained that he enjoyed the combat and that the characters’ weapons and skills were interesting and exciting. It was a good goal to develop a character and build a character. However, he criticized technical problems in the game such as lag and rubberbanding.
Tassi also found it difficult that the most effective way to advance a character was a very boring method.
The First Descendant satisfies a hunger that no game has satisfied for a long time
This is what he says now: In the latest video, which appeared today, July 10, 2024, at 6 p.m., Tassi is excited. He says he has – somehow – made a 180° turn.
The game becomes much more exciting as the game progresses because the missions, bosses and character builds become more varied and exciting.
The main reason I like the game right now: It’s not just a reboot and we’re all starting at square one. It’s something where I’m always working towards a goal, the whole time. That’s something I haven’t felt in my main game, Destiny, in a long time.
He is still in the honeymoon phase with The First Descendant and he can’t guarantee that he will put in 400 hours – but at the moment the game offers him something that Destiny can’t.
He even explains on Twitter that he is obsessed with The First Descedant and cannot remember his opinion of a game ever changing so much. The game satisfies a hunger in him, just like Diablo 4 did last time. Tassi does not name it, but it seems to be the hunger for looting and leveling: The new loot shooter on Steam fills a gap in your gamer soul that Division, Anthem and Destiny have left behind.
