In the 2000s had Prison Break numerous fans who were excited every week to find out whether genius Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) would successfully break out his wrongly imprisoned brother Linc (Dominic Purcell) from the inside out. Now the thriller series, which runs on Disney+ in Germany, is to be given new life with a slightly different concept.

On Disney+, Prison Break could soon reach 100 episodes

Prison Break was one of the series that enjoyed enormous popularity in the 2000s. 4 seasons with 79 episodes were broadcast between 2005 and 2009. But after the big finale, it unexpectedly didn’t end: eight years later, the Fox broadcaster gave the escapee format a fifth season with 9 episodes in 2017. You can stream all 90 episodes on Disney+ *. This number could rise to over 100 in the future, as Prison Break is apparently being revived again.

As THR reports, the broadcaster Hulu, whose films and series stream on Disney+ in Germany, is working on one new series version of Prison Break, set in the same world. This means we would no longer follow the old main characters, but new characters. However, this does not rule out a reunion with familiar prison staff or prisoners.

Elgin James, who led the spin-off to Sons of Anarchy with Mayans MC, will be the showrunner for the series revival of Prison Break. He will write the script for Prison Break Returns and will also be joined as an executive producer by Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring.

When is Prison Break coming back to Disney+ as a series?

It is not yet known whether Prison Break Returns will be released as a 6th season. An independent spin-off series is more likely. Likewise, we can only speculate about the start date of the new prison trip, as the idea is still in its early stages. Before 2025 The new series outbreak on Disney+ is certainly not to be expected.
