One of the best thriller mini series of the year starts

On Monday, September 30th All four episodes of the German thriller miniseries Herrhausen – The Lord of the Money come to the ARD media library. The series can also be seen on television in two parts in the evenings on October 1st and 3rd.

For almost three and a half hours, the fast-paced thriller tells of the innovations and ventures as well as the murders of the German financial icon Alfred Herrhausen. And if the word “financial icon” turns you off, the series is still recommended.

Stream for free: Herrhausen is a fast-paced thriller with the outstanding Oliver Masucci

This is what Herrhausen is all about: The German production by Pia Strietmann (Days that Remain) tells of Alfred Herrhausen and how he wanted to revolutionize and lead the German bank in the last years before his death. The spirit of optimism was becoming more and more noticeable in the late 1980s and Herrhausen wanted to break down the rigid views of his much older colleagues. At the latest when he enters into an exchange with Gorbachev, important secret services have him on their radar – unfortunately also the terrorist group RAF (Red Army Faction), which has chosen him as a target.

Oliver Masucci is at his best: The German character actor Oliver Masucci is a fan of unusual roles. It is not uncommon for them to have deep abysses, like in Dark or German Crime Story. As Alfred Herrhausen, however, he appears almost as a superhero of the German banking system. It has rarely been so much fun to watch him perform. He is charismatic and super-intelligent, but always has a penchant for ruthless megalomania in global political events.

Authentic 80s music plays and the RAF hovers over everything more like the sword of Damocles than really taking part in Herrhausen’s history. The fast-paced script The German banking system of the 80s actually presents us with an exciting and engaging experience. It’s not for nothing that Herrhausen is reminiscent of the fantastic and related series The Americans and Bad Banks, and has already won a screenplay award. The political thriller was awarded best script at the Series Mania series festival in Lille, reported DWDL, among others.

The series is worthwhile for all fans of thriller mini-serieswhich Netflix also produces with Dear Child, A New Summer and the Harlan Coben film adaptations. However, Herrhausen aims to delve deeply into world events in the 80s without distracting from Herrhausen as a person. Pia Strietmann’s team never loses sight of the mainstream claim. What could have been a dry historical political drama becomes a grueling and entertaining thriller.
