One of the best series of the year whose stylish

Hard-hitting violence, incredibly entertaining dialogues and all staged so impressively that you want to print out scenes and hang them over your bed despite all the fake blood: the South Korean series Bargain is the wet dream of all fans of stylish excesses of violence à la Tarantino.

The fight for survival in a collapsing hotel, in which none of those involved is what he or she seems to be, offers more than adrenaline-charged images of an unusual horror scenario. At the French Canneseries Festival in 2023, Bargain received the prize for the best script, and at the series camp in Cologne Jury Prize for Best Series.

From October 5th you can finally stream season 1 in Germany – and it’s so good that it’s even worth subscribing to an additional streaming service.

Perfect for Tarantino fans: That’s what the action thriller Bargain is about

In a rural hotel in South Korea, a successful man (Jin Sun-kyu) meets a young woman (Jeon Jong-seo). The alleged student wants sell him her virginity, but before that happens, the man loses consciousness – and wakes up surrounded by complete strangers who want to auction off his organs. Like dozens of other women, the “student” is part of a criminal organization, and the hotel is its run-down headquarters.

An organ trafficking ring is hidden behind the paid dates with alleged virgins

Before the scalpel can cut free the first organ sold, a violent earthquake occurs. The dilapidated building begins to crumble apart. If you want to survive, you have to make it to the top before the hotel finally sinks into the ground. There is one on the different floors merciless fight for survival between organ buyers, the criminals and their victims. But not only the building, but also the alliances are constantly shifting. Enemies become allies, accomplices suddenly become traitors.

The individual floors almost feel like this like individual levels of a video game at. The camera rushes breathlessly through the collapsing corridors giving you the feeling of being right in the middle of the action. And in the few moments you pause, you still manage to do it Moments of completely unironic beauty. Despite its horror scenario, Bargain is funny, unpredictable and so damn stylish in the way it stages its dark world and raw violence – it almost feels unfair that the first season only has 6 entertaining episodes.
