The next big Hollywood production is faltering. Silo is the name of the sci-fi series starring Rebecca Ferguson (Dune, Mission: Impossible 7) that received critical acclaim this year. The end-time vision was supposed to move straight into season 2, but its production was recently paused.
Why season 2 of the sci-fi series had to be stopped
The background is the ongoing double strike in Hollywood. The authors have been on strike since May, initially affecting series and films that were in pre-production. In July, the actors’ union SAG called on its 160,000 members to go on strike. This has consequences for numerous shootings and now also Silo. Season 2 filming has been paused indefinitely, Deadline reports. The same problem could also hit another Apple sci-fi series: Season 3 of Foundation.
Among other things, the strikers advocate fairer pay for the weaker members of the unions – and that is the large majority. So it’s not about salaries in the millions, but minimum wages and health insurance.
