Ridley Scott felt ‘hurt’ about aliens

In James Cameron’s sequel, the horror elements are scaled back and the action is placed more in focus. Fans loved the sequel as much as critics. Aliens: The Return even received one on Rotten Tomatoes Critic score of 98 percent. But one person wasn’t happy.

Ridley Scott was very disappointed, not with James Cameron personally, but that the studio did Continuation into foreign hands as he told Deadline in an interview:

I was pissed. I would [James Cameron] never say, but I think I was hurt. I knew that I [mit Alien] had created something very special, something truly unique. I was hurt, deeply hurt.

33 years after Aliens, Scott directed two more films in the franchise, Prometheus (2012) and Alien: Covenant (2017), but they could no longer keep up with the first two.

The alien universe is far from being told. At the Alien: Romulus starts August 15th an independent story with a new cast in cinemas. The seventh part is timely located between the first two and tells about a group of young space colonists.
