The Netflix charts are always good for surprises. Of course, new releases that go online during service can often be seen in the internal film ranking. Sometimes, however, a somewhat older title makes it into the top 10, which is not even one of the innovations. This is how it happened to Denis Villeneuves Sci-Fi masterpiece Arrival from 2016 9th place Arrived.
Arrival in the Netflix charts: a modern sci-fi masterpiece
In Arrival, the linguistics expert Louise Banks (Amy Adams) is consulted by the US military after twelve mysterious spaceships have appeared in twelve places in the world. The seven -legged aliens are not only technologically superior to us, they also have one of us to communicate completely foreign waywhich is to be deciphered by the language specialist: inside the world. But time is ticking, because some high -ranking people re -enforce warlike intentions to the bizarre visitors, which could sooner or later end with a military attack.
Louise works with the two aliens that they call Albert and Costello, as well as the mathematician Ian Donnelly (Jeremy Renner) to do that linguistic puzzles to solve. But the answer to your questions carries unimaginable consequences. At the same time, the expert is haunted by her daughter Hannah’s visions, which we see at the beginning of the film from a rare illness.
Arrival is based on the sci-fi short story Story of your life by Ted Chiang and is a must for all who love contemplative, clever genre food with minimalist pictures, very big ideas and even greater feelings. The Moviepilot Community evaluates the film after 8000 votes with a 7.6 out of 10.
