In the year 2035, a virus has wiped out large parts of humanity. Inmate James Cole (Willis) is sent back in time to prevent the catastrophe. But something goes wrong on the trip, he ends up in a psychiatric hospital in 1990 and meets radical activist Jeffrey Goines (Brad Pitt), who is connected to the virus. But the faulty time travel mechanism soon drags him further, including a battlefield of the First World War.

Terry Gilliam’s 12 Monkeys is now considered a masterpiece by many, and not without reason. Great production design and a unique look, among other things works with fisheye lenses and other optical finesse, make the film extremely entertaining. Not to mention the best performances of the actors, especially those of Willis and Pitt.
When is 12 Monkeys on TV?
12 Monkeys is running today, Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 10:30 p.m. on Nitro. In addition to Willis and Pitt, Christopher Plummer (Knives Out) can be seen in the film. During filming, Gilliam tortured Pitt with a mean trick: he took his cigarettes away.
